Collections

Collections are physical folders that come from the original library from which VDO imports videos. They are made flat if there nested folders and organized by year.

Creating a new collection

There are multiple ways to create a collection:

Option 1

1. Goto settings ( Cmd+,) and then navigate to collection tab.
2. Locate the "Add new collection" button on the bottom of the section.
3. Click to open a modal. And then type the playlist name and hit "Add collection" button.
4. Year is optional and default to current system year.
5. Now, you will see your collection in the list.

Option 2

1. Go to all collections view(Cmd+Shift+C).
2. On the left side where you see all the collections, click on the "+" icon on the top left of the side panel.
3. This would open up modal window to enter a new collection name.
4. Year is optional and default to current system year.
5. Click on "Add new collection" and you can see the new collection on the same side bar.

Deleting a collection

To delete a collection, follow these steps:

1. Goto settings (Cmd+,) and then navigate to collections tab.
2. Select the collection you want to delete.
3. Hover on the collection item and click on the "x" button on the right side of collection item.
4. Confirm the deletion by clicking on the "Delete" button in the confirmation modal.

Moving a video to a collection

1. Select any video in all collection(Cmd+Shift+C) window.
2. Go to the video details panel and then click on the collections value.
3. This will open a modal window where you can select the new collection.
4. Selecte the desired collection and hit enter
5. Now, you can add a new playlist by
6. If you dont fine the collection name, then probably your dont have that collection for the year the video was created. Create a new by going to settings or on the collections list sidebar and then try this process again.

The video may not move to the new collection immediately. And you may see it being lying there unless you switch to another collection. However, you will notice the video going away to new collection if you move(import) a video from a watchfolder.
